Target Style Series: What to Wear to Work

in ways to wear it

Between little white dresses, beige silhouettes and everything in between across the runways in New York, I’ve had to step back and remind myself to prep my closet for fall fashion, first.

So, when Target offered up the challenge of styling a few perfect looks for fall with their Merona Collection, I happily accepted. This is the first in a four-part weekly series, where we’ll talk basics to buy, mistakes to avoid, and rules to follow (or ignore) in building a well-balanced wardrobe.

Up first: Fall trends to wear to work this season. Here’s my top two picks:

  • A stylish pencil skirt: This wardrobe staple is universally flattering with a cut that’s long-and-lean. Build your outfit around a bright or patterned skirt, layer on a blouse (tucked or untucked), jacket and jewelry. Create contrast with a wedged bootie or style it up with matching pumps.

  • A tailored blazer: No news here — a fitted blazer is fall’s quintessential must-have. These pieces will take you from office sophisticate to city chic (and happy hour-ready) in a moment’s notice. Pair ‘em with ankle pants and nude pumps or color-block with a patterned blouse.
