In researching today’s post, I had a revelation: I’m decidedly not over dip-dye.
More often referred to as “ombré,” this trend of stylish gradation has splashed its way across the runway, landed in our living rooms and even ended up in our locks and on our lips.
Target now offers an affordable take on the trend, making it an easy for us to (re)invent into our spring wardrobes. Why I’m still hooked? The dip-dye effect of subtle shading from saturated to soft colors feels like a modern take on the sunny tie-dye trends of generations ago. I don’t know about you, but as much as I love cute winter coats and layering for winter, I’m ready for abundant sunshine and happy hours al fresco.
Those days are still a bit far off here in New York, so when Target tasked me (via Glam) with styling their dip-dye collection to create a trendy set of spring ensembles, I jumped at the opportunity to overcome my annual SAD.
Here’s a few ways I’d wear it, styled from head-to-toe in pieces available exclusively at Target.
Click here to shop the dip-dye collection. If there’s anything else you’re looking for specifically from the looks above, comment below and I’ll help you find it.

I am honestly not a huge fan of the ombre trend, but I love all of the outfits you put together! Target is so amazing

I’m with you! It can be hit-or-miss, but these styles are so subtle that they’d be easy to incorporate into any outfit. Love you, Target. Thanks for commenting, Christine!

I just picked up a dip-dye shirt yesterday (when I was NOT supposed to be shopping, oops!). So excited to style it all spring

Lol, whoops! I’m the same way — what is it about a shopping freeze that makes you want to spend MORE?! x
Kodi March 5, 2013 at 7:42 pm
I’m so not sick of ombre either, more please! I do like a little bit more of a subtle fade than these pieces have, but I’ll still probably be looking into that swimsuit!
Kodi March 5, 2013 at 7:46 pm
…so, I looked into it…and I think they’re underwear…but still so cute!

Hahaha… Perhaps I need to revise that recommendation above. No wonder I couldn’t find the matching bikini top.
Patti March 7, 2013 at 5:12 pm
My daughter caught onto the trend almost 2 years ago and has gone die crazy. I thought it was just a fad with her, but now I see that it is all over the place. I do like the things that you have put together and I like the new collection. I guess my daughter, Becky, does have that eye for fashion.
Lisa Gibson March 7, 2013 at 6:00 pm
I might try this fashion if I can find clothing worth wearing. The styles shown has a very old person feel to it.
Ellen March 7, 2013 at 8:52 pm
I like these combinations very much. I’d wear them in a heatbeat.
Laurna March 7, 2013 at 9:29 pm
These are right up my alley. But the clothes line I hope comes in plus sizes.
Lindy March 10, 2013 at 3:41 am
I hope so too! I’m also a plus size girl!
Lindy March 10, 2013 at 3:48 pm

My daughter has Ombre HAIR!! Not on purpose, though – she has VERY long hair and used to color it DARK DARK DARK red, almost black. She stopped a few years ago and now her natural reddish brown is halfway down her back and the black is the lower half. She’s always getting compliments on her ombre hair and it was a total accident!!
CathieAdamietz March 8, 2013 at 3:07 pm
Having been the queen of tie dye but wanting a little more sophisticated look, I love this!

Marilyn H March 9, 2013 at 9:50 am
I didn’t think I would like this trend but I do think some of it is subtle enough to work if it is not overdone. Love the little outfits that you put together, not so sure about the pictures of rooms. I think it would get “old” fast for me.
Stephanie March 9, 2013 at 12:48 pm
Very cute but not for me.
Teri March 9, 2013 at 4:30 pm

I like the weekend wear. Why can’t target make cute clothes in plus size? Always boring plain clothes in plus size. Jazz it up with more pretty colors like the misses clothes.

I like the ombre trend. Any tips on how to wear it if you have a large tummy and hips? I’m having some medical issues and my weight is out of control right now. I like to dress in a way that makes my problem areas not so obvious.
theresa March 11, 2013 at 10:59 am
