Monochrome

Today is everything. It’s the start of a long weekend, an excuse to dine without silverware, and the unofficial return of pumpkin spice everything.

loft, zara, gap denim, how to style white jeans, what to wear with white jeans

My city and I have big plans to tackle (do you see her reflection in my sunnies?) — many of which I intend to do in my white jeans.

Before we get into it, though, let’s clear the air: I’m not going to preach that the moratorium on wearing white after Labor Day is, like, so outdated. We’re already on the same page, right?

Perf.

Because I’m all for wearing your favorite pieces year-round, and these white skinny jeans just happen to be among mine.

That said, when Visa challenged me with styling a fall-worthy look with white jeans, it was a no-brainer.

Every year during that in-between season (and well into autumn), I gravitate toward a transitional wardrobe – which typically entails a lot of monochrome. Capitalizing on the timeless black-and-white trend is a seamless way to continue wearing your summer whites. Minimalism is always sophisticated!

faux leather blazer, leggings, top, blouse, jackethailing a cab, nycwhite and black, outfit, monochromatic, all white, With the right styling, it’s easy to keep your white denim in rotation year-round — in fact, now is the best time to shop for them! The pair I’m wearing from Gap is on clearance and J. Crew has a similar style on sale.

The only thing that should stress you out when you’re wearing white post-September is coffee stains — not the outdated notion that it’s a summer-specific hue. After all, rules — fashion in particular — are meant to be broken.

It’s the WEEKEND! Get. It. Girl.

  1. I was just in store yesterday and overheard a mother discouraging her daughter from buying white jeans - explaining the no-white after Labor Day rules. I just had to shake my head - poor girl (the jeans were cute!) I have always approached Fashion with a “rules were mean’t to be broken” approach. Plus, I don’t like being told what to do. 🙂 Great post, great outfit.

    Have a fabulous weekend!

    • You and me both, girl! My mom is pretty traditional when it comes to fashion, too. She tends to give me the side-eye when she sees me in white come September/October. Not that I’m comparing her in a literal sense, but as the saying goes, sometimes you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. : ) (Love ya, Mom!)

  2. Such a great, classic look. I am obsessed with that blazer! It is beyond fabulous. Have a great long weekend!
