Classic Camel Trench

Wardrobe staples don’t come any more classic than the camel trench, and this timelessly flattering jacket has proven particularly useful during these transitional weather periods.

But before we go on, I’ve got to share some realness with you about today’s post.

At the moment, I’m hoarding an outlet in the coziest corner of my favorite local coffee shop. I swear, you guys — the second my fingers finished moving across the keyboard to complete the phrase “transitional weather,” it started to snow. And I’m talking sheets and sheets and sheets of snow.

Sigh.

Thanks, Mother Nature. You’re a real cockblock.

A content cockblock, that is. And, well, generally speaking too, I suppose.

I’ll clarify: Obviously, I took these photos a few days ago — when there slush and snow coating the ground. It’s freakin’ March! I thought we were in the homestretch to spring… Yet, here we are. I’m on the blog today in white jeans (which are spill-proof, I might add), a linen tee and there’s a foot of snow on the ground. Busted!

You guys are good with another winter white-themed post, right? Just kidding — been there, done that.

Let’s get back to the trench.

The number of outfits I’ve worked this coat into is a testament to its ultimate versatility — most recently, it was with sweatpants in public.

I’ll be honest, though; it took me a while to finally bite the bullet and “splurge” on a trench. I think it’s because I couldn’t find “The One,” though. You know what I mean? I went through this dilemma with OTK boots, too.

The struggle is real!

You can find less expensive versions at ASOS, Forever 21 and the like, but I’d recommend saving your money for a quality trench coat from Calvin Klein, London Fog, BCBG (this one is my favorite!), DKNY, or, if it’s not out of reach, Burberry.

They’re just better, frankly, and they’ll last you for years. Plus, if you go through Nordstrom or Zappos, you know you’ll be taken care of by those customer service teams for as long as you have it.

Consider it a closet cornerstone that always feels current — even if miss Mother Nature can’t make up her damn mind.

Happy Monday — and March! — my friends…

  1. Hallie sometimes I sweat it is like you read my mind. I have been looking to purchase a new trench. I got one a few years ago for Christmas in a blush color and I loved it but the problem was it wasn’t always wearable with my outfits. This neutral number you have on however totally is!! Good luck with your sheets of snow! It is suppose to be a nice foggy 61 here in the south! :)

  2. I’ve had my Burberry trench for YEARS already and it seriously a go-to jacket during the real transitional months.

  3. You’ve read my mind/browser history lady. I’m on the lookout for the perfect trench in hopes that I can ditch my Arctic worthy parka soon. While the Chicago winter hasn’t been toooo terrible, I’m over it.

Ps you look SO happy in these pics :) I’m so happy that you’ve found your soul cycle calling.

    xoxo, Jen
