FAQ //LOCATION: New York, New York •BY WAY OF: The Midwest (Cleveland/Chicago) •HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE? Attainable, trendy and fun. I’m constantly wearing unexpected pairings – like statement pumps and a graphic tee. •FAVORITE ITEM IN YOUR CLOSET? The vintage Gucci clutch I thrifted for $40. •ANY OBSESSIONS? I like my coffee black, my heels high and my martinis dirty. •GUILTY PLEASURES? Complex carbohydrates and shoe shopping -- both in excess. (And SoulCycle, as a result.)
ARE YOU A FULL-TIME BLOGGER? No, I work as a Development Manager and Contributing Editor at Glam.com. •WHY DID YOU START YOUR BLOG? I've spent nearly seven years on the corporate grind, where sartorial humor and an expertly crafted color-block can get lost in the boardroom. As a result, I decided to create a blog -- a space where I’d hoped my writing, styling and excessive shoe collection would be better comprehended. •WHAT’S IT ABOUT? Living stylish and spontaneously in New York City – and beyond. I aim to inspire others to have fun with fashion and to live lightheartedly •HOW’D YOU THINK OF THE NAME? To be honest, the name just came to me. I’m a big color-blocker and a sucker for alliteration in writing. It just fit. •WHAT’S THE CORRECT WAY TO WRITE IT? corals + cognacs.
HOW DO YOU PRONOUNCE IT? corals and cone-yaks. •WHAT KIND OF CAMERA DO YOU USE? A Canon T3i with a 50mm f/1.4 lens. •DON’T YOU FEEL WEIRD TAKING PHOTOS OF YOURSELF? Absolutely. Everyone looks at me like I’m insane – especially when it’s cold. Wouldn’t you? •DO YOU WORK WITH ADVERTISERS/SPONSORS? Yep! Shoot me an e-mail and let’s talk. •HOW ELSE CAN WE KEEP IN TOUCH? On Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
Bonjour, mes amis. I’m back in Chicago and eager to share a few updates and stories from the City of Light!
During the daytime in Paris, it’s all about exploring.
Our first few days (or the entire trip, really) went a bit like this: Walking, shopping, eating, drinking. And repeat.
I’ll share more on the specifics in a later post with you (this week and next) as I’m working on a more extensive guide to the city… In the interim, though, the clothes: When Jess and I travel together, we walk everywhere.
We were pretty much straight off the plane on Day One, so thankfully I had black aviators and a matching black beanie to hide the fact that I’d failed miserably at sleeping on the plane on our red-eye over the Atlantic…
Visine, my friends — always pack it.
I hesitated for a really long time before buying this coat, but I finally did in the few days leading up to our departure — and am so glad that I did.
As my style has evolved over the last few years especially, I’ve come around to the idea of spending more money on fewer pieces… You know, those items that will last you 100x longer than their potentially more cheaply made counterparts? Worth it, in my opinion.
(Don’t get me wrong, though — nothing is more satisfying than finding a diamond in the rough at Forever21.)
I love that it can be worn three ways/made into three unique looks — as (1) the trench shown here, but also as (2) a belted vest and (3) a cropped moto-style jacket. Mostly, though, I love how it makes me feel when I wear it.
A good quality jacket makes everything else you’re wearing look more expensive, too – including today’s lightweight cashmere turtleneck.
Beyond the trench, this backpack was one item I carried with me frequently. It’s so nice to be hands-free when you’re walking around all day – especially with a heavy camera in one hand (and, typically, a cappuccino or nutella crepe in the other).
If the trench was slightlyyy more pink than tan, it would be in my bag. Now I’m poking around net-a-porter in the morning instead of getting up for work! It’s expensive, but it’s like 3 jackets in one, so it’s worth the price, right? 😛
So fun! Enjoy Paris!
I love this trench!

So excited to hear more about your trip. Paris is the most amazing place and I love hearing about people’s experiences there!
Can’t wait to see your city guide for my future travels!
Love your simple, chic outfit - can’t wait to read your city guide!
Nooo-never Visine! My doc told me there’s alcohol in Visine which dries your eyes out even more. Refresh or Systane drops are the best. 😉
