Holiday Style Guide: Four Festive Outfits

With the holiday season comes a slew of festivities with family, friends, co-workers and long-lost high school acquaintances. It’s exciting and all, but figuring out what to wear for each occasion is a tough decision to orchestrate. Why, all of a sudden, do you have a closet of clothes but nothing to wear!?

Fortunately, I’ve got you covered for every glam gathering on that calendar this month.

With Target as my inspiration (and entire wardrobe palette), here’s a garment guide on what to wear to your Thanksgiving gathering, the office holiday party and everything in between. And yes — every. single. piece. in this post is from Target.

Daytime chic: Whatever the holiday you honor each season, comfy cotton leggings are the only option, in my opinion (bonus if they’re fleece-lined). The chunky knit is a winter wardrobe fixture in my closet, as you can style them belted over a pretty maxi, with knee-high boots and so much more. This daytime look is perfect for stuffing (ahem) your face on Turkey Day or for spending Christmas Eve fireside with family.

The Holiday Party: Nothing says fashion-forward like a soft, velvet blazer. Your basic tee looks extra festive when paired with a fit-and-flare skirt, but don’t forget those tights — it was, like, nine degrees in New York on Sunday. Not okay!

Travel ensemble: With the number of flight delays I seem to face on a regular basis, it feels like I spend most of my holiday vaca at the airport (bar). Comfort is key, as a result, and I aim to layer as many items as possible (without crossing the line of looking homeless) to lighten the load in my suitcase.

Party-ready: The weather can be cold, wet and windy on New Year’s Eve, but don’t let a little precipitation spoil your party sparkle. Here’s a pretty look that won’t break the bank — what better way to ring in 2014? Don’t forget your faux tan (I use this religiously)!
