Jungle Print + Patent Pumps

Holiday parties are tough to dress for.

Sure, they’re a great reason to get dolled up in color-coordinated, sequin-and-lace dresses and faux fur separates. I’m trying to save money for my impending trip to Asia, though, so instead of running out and buying a new frock for the sake of festivity, I styled one of my most versatile dresses — the Leon by Yumi Kim — for a holiday-worthy (and office-appropriate) look.

I don’t own many vintage-looking dress silhouettes, but I couldn’t resist the fun print and waist-tie tassles on this piece. Counting down until the days I can wear it sans tights in Thailand!

Styling this little number was the easy part: Just embrace black!

Patent black pumps are a must-have for any wardrobe — you’ll wear them with everything and they won’t go out of style. BCBG’s d’orsay pump is one of my favorite shoe silhouettes — and the black patent leather pairs perfectly with everything in my closet. Literally, everything.

Now, two things I love: Gift-giving and shoes. In the spirit of spreading (stylish!) holiday cheer — and because they agree that no woman should be without a perfect holiday pump -DSW is offering corals + cognacs winners a change to win free shoes. Yes, free shoes! Or boots, if you prefer.

Five of you will win a $50 gift card to DSW as well as a copy of the New York Times’ bestselling book, Do You Speak Shoe Lover? Deets on how to enter the #DSWShoeHookup are below.

Oh, and I’m not the only one who has teamed up with DSW to hook you up with free shoes. There’s 49 other bloggers each giving away five prizes, too — you can check them out here. That’s a hell of a lot of shoes to be had… 250 pairs to be exact.

Lastly, fun fact: I commuted to the office in black flats this day, and as soon as I arrived, my co-worker (still love you!) promptly informed me that I looked “like a Hasidic Jew.” Upon further inspection in a full-length mirror, I realized that she was 100% right. The lesson here, I guess, is not to wear a shin-length dress with tights and matching black flats. Ha!
