Cozy Morning Commute

One of the benefits of bone-chillingly cold weather is the fact that I can bust out my favorite faux-fur chinchilla bomber.

This is one of those pieces that doesn’t zip all the way, but I love it nonetheless. (I mean, it does — but then I look like a seagull.)

Sometime last winter, this faux-fur Rachel Zoe bomber joined ranks among my favorite consignment store finds (now in addition to the Chanel necklace and Gucci clutch). Perhaps that’s why I can’t seem to part ways with it? Or maybe it’s that continued declaration that I’ll diet in the name of designer fashions — starting next week…

Nope.

It’s a damn good thing that whole wear-your-jacket-on-your-shoulders-like-an-Editor thing is hot to trot right now. You better believe I’m gonna fake it ‘til I make it – or less snugly fit into it.

Do you have pieces in your closet that you work into your wardrobe despite the fact that they don’t actually fit how they’re intended? A blazer you don’t button? Dress pants that no longer have that annoying side button situation? C’mon, share your secrets.

  1. You look so adorable! I absolutely have a pair of jeans that dig into me - but they’re a beautiful deep purple that I purchased in Ireland and I cannot bear to part with them. Sometimes, I wear the top button undone with a long shirt 😉

  2. So glad I am not the only one who has pieces in my closet that don’t 100% match. I have a few dresses that are just a little too tight in the upper body to wear by themselves but you better believe I throw a loose fitting sweater over them and BAM an outfit that no one knows doesn’t 100% fit right!

Oh and I loved/swooned after your Asia trip….you inspired me to plan one of my own. :)

  4. I bought my first (and favorite) pair of skinny jeans on a trip to London years ago. Wearing them non-stop for so long led to the damn zipper refusing to stay fastened… Because I adore them so much I still keep them in rotation, I just make sure I pair them with long, tunic-y tops to hide their little flaw ;D Great topic & even greater outfit!!

  5. I love that jacket! I can see why you wouldn’t want to part with it! I’m in the opposite scenario though. Last winter, it seemed like I had every ailment out there (flu’s, colds, stomach bugs, etc.) and ended up loosing 25 lbs in the course of a year. So some of my favourite pieces in my closet are way too big now (I have skirts I can pull over my chest without undoing them, and pants that can slide on and off without unzipping; I’ve dropped from an 8 to a 2-4). My dilemma: what should I take to a tailor, and what should I chuck?
