Cop-out

It’s been another one of those weeks where you constantly seem to be chasing after your schedule. Not in a bad way, really, but do you know the feeling?

I fully intended to share a new post on corals yesterday, but instead, I opted to close my computer and have a few glasses of rosé with my girlfriends – Hitha, Julia and Victoria.

Sometimes, the best way to reignite your source of inspiration is to spend a few wine-soaked hours with your girls. Having a shitload of complex carbs within an arm’s length helps, too. Trust me.

I’m all about the mantra “write drunk, edit sober,” but typically, there’s absolutely no (good) writing to be done after a 16-hour day. When you tip-toe past your doorman, kick off your shoes and your head hits the pillow, it’s game O-V-E-R.

I actually “wrote” today’s post on an (overly ambitious) three-mile walk home earlier this week. While I certainly felt like an asshole chatting up my voice recorder in public, I’m banking on the fact that passers-by assumed I was on the phone.

Aaaanyway: On nights such as these — or rather, for the mornings after — a cute cap is always a must. I often rely on my collection to hide a multitude of sins (as evidenced); for example: if I’m running late or I didn’t want to put on make-up that morning. Or perhaps I’m hiding the slightest hint of a hangover…

Totally hypothetical situations, obvi.

It’s a cop-out, really; but thankfully it’s one that’s on-trend.

*PS: Ironically enough, I wrote this yesterday morning – but again opted for drinks with Jess last night instead. I blame summer. My bad — much love!

  1. Haha I love that you admit to pre-recording this, I have totally done the same thing!! I used to always get the most inspiration while making the 4-hour drive to and from college, and back then my phone didn’t have a recorder on it….so I’d turn on the “video” mode on my digital camera to pick up my voice! The weird shit we do to get our thoughts out…hope you’re surviving the week :)

    • Oh yeah, haha. And if I actually wrote verbatim what was recorded, it would be almost un-readable. So much “soooo” and “uhhhh” with the occasional “what the f-k is that person doing?”

Glad to know I’m not alone! x
