How to Make the Most of Shopbop’s Annual Sale

At last, the Internet’s annual summer sales are in full-swing, giving us the perfect excuse to start afresh and pick up a few seasonal essentials — including shorts, sundresses and sandals.

As a seasoned shopper, I know you’re not a novice when it comes to snagging a deal, but there are a few things to think about when you’re browsing one in particular: SHOPBOP’S SEMI-ANNUAL SALE.

Before you go and empty your wallet, here’s what you need to know:

All sale items are an additional 25% off (with the code 25MORE) and there are no designer exclusives. In addition, Shopbop offers free three-day shipping. Lastly, the only items that are non-refundable are those that are already marked down 70% (unless otherwise specified). Offer ends Thursday, 6/26, at 11:59PM PST.

Now, the specifics — I rarely spend my savings on seasonal updates, but there are a few categories I stick to when shopping a season update. Click the images below to see what I’m browsing from the sale:

SUMMER SANDALS:

I mean, duh. Especially any by Loeffler Randall.

DESIGNER HANDBAGS:

The perfect investment piece. Though if it’s a simple, quintessential tote you’re after, look no further than J.Crew’s sale (use the code HISUMMER). I just got this cognac color and it pairs well with everything in my closet.

READY-TO-WEAR DRESSES:

In the summer, especially, is there anything better than “throw it on and go?” My favorite brands for printed pieces and femme frocks are Parker, Milly and Rebecca Taylor.

DENIM:

A chic pair of jeans will take you through all occasions in life. Paige and J Brand jeans fit my petite frame the best.

JEWELRY:

Always the exclamation point to your outfit — especially brands such as Dannijo and Lulu Frost (my favorite necklace is on sale!).

Lastly, here’s a few quick tips for shopping sales (in general):

  1. Offer ends Thursday, 6/26, at 11:59PM PST.
  2. If it’s final sale, be damn sure it fits and that you can wear it with something else that’s already in your closet – otherwise, you’re just playing credit card roulette. (I like that game, too, but only in bars.)
  3. Once you add something to your cart, you have 30 minutes to decide if you want it. Otherwise, it re-stocks.
  4. Bags and shoes are always the first to sell out – especially those coveted designers like 3.1 Phillip Lim and Rebecca Minkoff.
  5. If you see something you really like (and it’s not final sale), add it to your cart. Shopbop has free shipping and returns.
  6. Shop within the first few days of the sale (so, like, NOW). This is when all the good sizes and colors are available.
  7. Don’t worry about your item getting an additional mark-down after you purchase – if this happens, just call Shopbop and ask for a price adjustment.

Happy shopping, my friends. Be sure to report back with your purchases!
