I love this look-chic but so easy and comfortable. Lemme ask…it’s pretty darn summery. Would you wear it after Labor Day or you do you stick to any hard and firm rules about making a switch in your wardrobe in September?
Great question, Jenn - I was actually thinking about that in writing this post.
I’d like to wear it after Labor Day, so challenge accepted. Stay tuned! x
Rules are meant to be broken 😉
“They say you become like the people you spend the most time with.” This is totally true for my style as well. I went to a super preppy high school and still have touches of that style in most of my looks, but going to an anti-prep college and having friends with styles completely unlike my own has definitely expanded my wardrobe horizons. Love the lighting in these photos!
Great look!
Love this look! I don’t think I’m going to be able to put away my maxi dresses any time soon because I’ve become too accustomed to wearing them this summer. Guess it’s just time to throw a jacket on top!

LOVE this breezy nautical-meets-preppy look on you!

Kind of loving the preppy look on you, Hallie! Love how you can pull off any style!
Pink Champagne Problems
I absolutely love this! I always try to layer my favorite striped tops over dresses and it never works as well as your look did! And the espadrilles are just the absolute perfect finishing piece!
These pictures may be my most favorite you have ever posted - everything about them is perfect.
Thank you! I’d have to agree, lady — and all sentiments to Lydia, my friend/photog!
Love this look! I don’t think I’m brave enough to wear that much white — I’m kind of accident prone! Ha ha!

Though I think you look cute, I have to disagree with you on one thing. As a girl who grew up on the North Shore of Long Island, when I say preppy = “fashion taste” and personal “style”…. it totally does. Granted, it’s also a way of life in regard to taste in (hobbies, vacationing homes, sports, even your vehicle). Taste in style refers to the articles of clothing you wear, how they are tailored, the colors and/or color combinations you pick, the designers you stick closely to and so much more. Personally, my taste/style stayed rather extreme preppy up until I graduated from college. That was 10yrs ago. Clearly my taste has (or should have) evolved and now it’s just mildly preppy. Now that I think about it, its only my casual day/weekend attire that is mostly preppy.
Back to you, loving the Panoma hat (I have the same one). Great pics from the new Brooklyn Promenade.

My closet is comprised of many maxis but an all-white number isn’t among them. Now, my wheels are turning with endless styling possibilities…some preppy, some not. Thanks for expanding my fashion horizons, Hallie.
P.S. As a connoisseur of alcohol, today’s post on F Yeah! is right up your alley.
Such a cute look Hallie!

You do preppy well! Love how you turned this dress into a skirt, and can’t wait to see how you re-imagine these pieces for fall. P.S. Drinks soon?
