Cool-Weather Whites

My winter wardrobe workhorse is at it again today, you guys.

You’ve met her before: The chunky turtleneck sweater.

No fuss, no frills. Totally polished when worn on her own — and particularly when paired with cool-weather white denim. (She’s also insanely chic, I imagine, when layered over a dress or maxi skirt… Challenge accepted!)

They have a name for people who objectify their clothing, don’t they?

Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Cute, but isn’t there snow on the ground?”

Sure, yes. There is. And while that may be the case, I’m already thinking spring — despite the fact that this goddamn groundhog saw his shadow and is predicting six more weeks of winter.

When it snows and such, the city of New York usually gets her shit together by day three, so the streets are clear and the sidewalks are spic-and-span. Or clean enough to wear a pair of pumps, at least. (Sorry, Chicago!)

I love these Loeffler Randall pumps, but they’re strictly for cab-to-curb occasions until warmer weather rolls around.

Plus, I’m wearing Joe’s Jeans new spotless skinny jeans — meaning, they’re white jeans that stay true to their hue and resist liquids like coffee, wine and dirty snow slush. Um, hi — brilliant! Were these made with us in mind or what?

There’s more pant styles, skirts and shorts as well — you can see the entire collection here. I think I want the slim boyfriend style, too.

In sum: It can get dark and dreary in February.

Some days, a girl just needs to throw her finger to mother nature and up her shoe game. Or, you know, practice for Fashion Week… One week and counting!

  1. Hokay, I need to get these jeans. 1. I drink far too much coffee to be trusted in white denim. and 2. The one pair I did have (also Joe’s!) got totally stained indigo while sent out for wash n fold. They came back with wavy blue lines all over. I’m thinking I actually might just go all out and tie-dye them with indigo, praying they’ll be cute.

Also - when does the groundhog ever *not* see his shadow?! Come on, P-Phil, just admit the whole thing is a scam :)

Rode with #waxcrack @ W27 his morning and thought of you! xx

  2. I really do love that sweater! And how it’s chunky but you still look so chic and fit! Wishing I could rock one of these right about now.

  3. I was on the hunt for a chunky turtleneck for the longest time and then BAM my sister scores at Nordstrom and walks away with a stunning knitted deep green one! Of course I copied her like the good little sister I am, and now I finally have my own :) Love your outfit!

  4. Pretty sure these spillproof white jeans should be a requirement in NYC in winter! Love how you combined colors that aren’t necessarily “winter colors” for a totally perfect cold weather look.

  5. This outfit is great! I love the touch with the roses… I think that shot looking down at your shoes with the flowers in the bag might be my favorite of the bunch. Although you look great too! Haha.

    Also, resistant white jeans. Genius.

  6. Jealous! Chicago is an icy, snowy, up to your ankles in black slush mess. Counting down the days until shoes like this are possible again!

  7. Love that chunky sweater. It looks wonderfully cozy! Also, I am going to need to invest in everything spill proof that Joe’s has… I am unable to not spill on myself, especially in white!

  9. I’ve been eyeing the Cuyana leather tote for a while. Can you tell me if its structured? Does it hold its shaped when you set it down?
