Peaks & pits, March 27

Peak: Jess and I were at ABC Cocina last night ringing in the unofficial start of rosé season — and boy did we ever… That was fun (and this morning is not), but the highlight was when one of our readers dropped by the table to say hello. Thank you so much, Molly! You totally made our night.

Pit: My heart goes out to those impacted by the East Village Explosion. How scary (and sad) to have this happen in our own backyard… Here’s a video of what went down seconds after the blast — I was screaming at my computer as that good Samaritan was climbing the fire escape around the three-minute mark (initial reports are saying he was an off-duty fire fighter). The FDNY has been on the scene for nearly 24 hours — praying that everyone is accounted for safely.
