Pastel in the Park

Though nothing can compete with Central Park in New York (where Lydia and I stopped to take these photos on my last weekend in the city), I remain to be (pleasantly) surprised by how much Chicago has changed since I last lived here a few years back.

Evolved, actually. Evolved is a better word — as the result seems to be a larger landscape of fresh, farm-to-table restaurants, coffee shops and cocktail spots.

One of the coolest consistencies, though, is reuniting with long-time girlfriends — the ones where you can pick up right where you leave off, like no time has even passed. Isn’t that the best? (I’m still riding one of my friendship highs from the weekend.)

Today’s ensemble has become somewhat of a weekday uniform — these wedges are so comfortable that you can walk a mile in them, and you probably aren’t surprised to see me in white denim from Joe’s Jeans… Zappos got me hooked on their spotless collection — it’s seriously the best.

This neon tank is the same as that light blue one that I love (styled here) — I told you I bought three of them. I’m even debating another — peach, perhaps?

(A quick note on the tank: If you’re debating one for yourself, go with your true US size — I’m wearing a 6, even though the sizing instructions suggest I need an 8.)

Midwestern weather has finally allowed for dining al fresco, so much of my weekend was spent doing exactly that — brunching with my parents, grilling out on a friend’s rooftop and sitting solo along the river between SoulCycle classes. (Thank goodness for all-black aviator sunglasses to conceal my post-workout face to the public.)

Monday after such a nice weekend is a rough return to reality, but at least our city decided to show some summer face this weekend.

  1. Those wedges are amazing! So happy that summer has finally arrived here in Chicago.

Hope you’re loving being back so far! I’m trying to get a group of my friends to check out the new loop studio 🙂

  2. Those wedges are so cute! PS - tried my first soul cycle class this weekend in the Castro, loved it! Totally see how you got hooked (and made it part of your career!) xo

What do you think?
