(… Does anyone else do that on the first of every month? Apparently, it’s an old superstition that’s supposed to bring you good luck.)

Ah, Monday. Some days, figuring out what to wear is the last thing one wants need to think about in the morning — especially when you’re trying to get back into the swing of things.

As you might have noticed through my recent outfit posts (even over the last year), I wear a lot of my favorite items of clothing on the reg. This winter especially, my wardrobe has been particularly reliant on a wool blazer, black jeans and over-the-knee boots.

Monday mornings aside, I’ve shifted my style a bit over time and learned the importance of investing in higher-quality basics; like this white tee, which I keep telling you guys about… A bit pricey, but worth it — it’s insanely soft and I wear it almost every day. Same goes for these OTK boots!

Having a curated closet of things I know I love (and love to wear) has saved me so many morning headaches — and, honestly, has really refined my signature style.

… And quick PSA, here: A good pair of black jeans are a girl’s best friend. They go with literally everything. Plus, they’re good for work and weekends.

Speaking of, I spent the weekend in the good company of friends. (The best!) A group of us went to “Snowball” on Saturday — an annual black-tie fundraiser in support of a local Chicago hospital. I wore a crop feather jacket and this ruched bodycon dress, which was super flattering — and an exceptional choice considering the late-night McDonald’s that was had that evening… Whoops.

Everything in moderation, my friends — unless we’re talkin’ ranch packets for your french fries. Hand over ALL of the ranch packets!
