Stay Glossy During… Your Favorite Concert

Some nights, your go-to beige eye-shadow and pretty pink blush just won’t cut it, and this is one of those nights. Whether you’re rocking out in a run-down bar or front row at the most anticipated show of the year, your style’s got to mirror your plans and hit a high note, amiright?

For tonight’s look, I paired simple slate denim and a sheer, billowy blouse. I like when my clothing sways with me to a beat. This type of dressed-down glam is perfect for an indoor concert, but really, as long as you’re comfortable, confident, and wearing a look that’s uniquely you, you can’t go wrong when getting dressed up to rock out.

Keep your style on-trend by choosing so-this-season shades in oxblood, cobalt and the like. I always reach for a no-fuss cross-body bag and shoes that won’t hurt my feet (I’m a veteran wedge walker) in order to optimize my (self-described) killer dance moves.

… And vocals.

When it comes to concerts, less is always more in my book. That’s where your make-up comes in! I stick to smooth, long-lasting eye color in purple or plum color varieties to make my hazel eyes pop. A slight cat-eye and just-bitten red lip aren’t overblown, but add a little oomph.

Chartreuse and Navy

Nothing like a little chartreuse to bright up an otherwise dreary day.

I’ve had a hard time not wearing this neon blazer ever since I picked it up at H&M, which you’ll notice in the weeks to come. I find myself mainly reaching for neutral tones to pair it with, like this nude-tone maxi. I’m easing my gams into tights season, if you will. We had our first snowfall in Chicago last night (and there were approximately six snowflakes).

*Wearing: H&M blazer (similar), Bella Dahl chambray shirt, vintage maxi, Furla bag, F21 booties, David Yurman cuff, ALDO spike bracelet

On another note, I recently upgraded to a DSLR (or “nicer”) camera. Can you tell? My Canon Rebel T3i is a lot of fun; but I have so much to learn. Any tips and tricks you’d care to share? Thanks to my lil’ sis, Lisa, for snapping these pics (not that I gave you a choice.)

Style Finds: 15 Kate Middleton-inspired Mid-Wedges

Earlier this week, a colleague and I debated on whether or not Kate Middleton is a style icon. While I don’t find that she’s a reflect of my own personal taste, I’d argue that Kate’s low-profile style makes her an ideal icon for our recession-weary budgets. What do you think? Do you like her realistic chic look?

Anywho, on Sundays here at corals + cognacs, you know it’s all about shoes…. And when she’s not wearing riding boots, you can often find Kate rocking her L.K. Bennett’s — most frequently, in these limited edition wedges (only recently on sale in the US).

That got me to thinking: What other options do taller ladies and non-enthusiasts of the strappy stiletto have for styling their soles this summer? Here’s a round-up of my favorites, in addition to those (not so) newly infamous L.K. Bennetts:

mid wedge, tory burch wedges, l.k. bennett wedges, kate middleton l.k. bennett, dolce vita wedges, rebecca minkoff wedges, sam edelman wedges
