Holiday-ready: Dress for Day-to-Night

in outfits, what i'm wearing

Today, let’s talk about a common scenario we’ve all undoubtedly faced: You’re invited to dinner last-minute or your co-workers spring a spontaneous happy hour proposition on you and changing is just not an option.

Or, in my case, two words: holiday party.

There are many ways you can take a work-worthy outfit to an entirely new level to be ready for a night out. For starters, the right dress will work in any of these scenarios. I fell in love with this emerald dress from BCBG when I found it at Macy’s. (Pantone color of 2013, woot!) When belted, its shift shape is figure-hugging enough for a night on the town, but it can also be easily dressed back down with opaque tights, a tuxedo blazer or (slash in my case, and) faux fur vest.
When it’s time to transfer from board room to bar stool, my go-to style trick is to cast off the layers and put on a killer pair of heels. I like to finish with a swipe of Rimmel London Stay Glossy (which you may have noticed I’ve been wearing non-stop), a fresh coat YSL TOUCHE ÉCLAT to make it look like I didn’t just sit behind a desk all day.
*Wearing: INC faux fur vest, DKNY tuxedo blazer, BCBG dress (love this one) / Enzo Angiolini boots (first look, also styled here / Truth or Dare by Madonna studded pumps (second look, also styled here)

My last fail-proof tip is keeping a few accessories in your desk. And accessories, in my case, are shoes. As all of my co-workers could tell you, I have at least three pairs of shoes at the office at all times. I’m not exactly sure how they accumulate, but facts are facts.
