Sprung

Spring is technically finally quite possibly here, but I for one am not quick to instill trust in Mother Nature.

No, absolutely not. After countless flight delays, many puddle fuck situations and a ruined pair of pony-hair booties over the past few months? Hell no.

Nonetheless, my spring season essentials are slowly creeping to the front of my closet, starting with these cut-out Ann Taylor booties.

The art of a winter-to-spring transition is a tough one to master, so I’ve been easing with a few favorite neutrals to create a perfectly nuanced outfit.

Neutrals tend to get a bad wrap in the style community, but really, they’re anything but basic. Further proof of this theory is in the addition of a few simple adjectives:

For today, I went with a pale grey coat with a crisp-white cotton dress, oatmeal-colored accessories and a double-strand statement necklace. All of the hues are similar, but unique enough to create visual interest — so it works.

On another note, there’s a few amazing sales happening today (which is such a Mind F-k, given it’s April Fool’s). If you’ve been coveting a classic-colored 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli, Otte has them for 15% off with code APRILFOOLS. (Yes, really.)

The sale includes all shoes, bags and accessories. If you’d like investment suggestions, my best Otte buys have been my rag & bone booties, Phillip Lim satchel, and Jennifer Zeuner Love earrings. Quality over quantity!

  1. Just wanted to let you know that you just helped a sister out BIG TIME! I have been dying for a Pashli for years and decided to invest in one for my 25th birthday (next week) and I started to save, and then I saw your post today and I decided to just pull the trigger! Hopefully it will arrive by my actual bday! thanks!!

    • I hadn’t before I discovered their fall boot collection from Fall 2012. Totally changed my outlook on the brand — they’re really well-made and often on sale! Can’t beat that. : )

  2. You look great! I love those booties. I really like the neutral look for spring. I’m not so much a pastel type of person, so this is a great alternative. Well done!

  3. You look amaze in these pics! I love this entire look, and now I just think you need to move down to Dallas with me so you can get out of that awful weather. I know it will never happen, but doesn’t 70s sound nice right now? :)
