Highlights of Summer

Flown by though it has, this has been one fantastic summer.

Trips to the beach, staycations in Brooklyn… The list goes on. And, uh, there’s the fact that we collectively drank the Hamptons dry of rosé

Most recently, I spent the holiday weekend at Camp No Counselors, which is essentially a booze-infused, grown-up summer camp.

Highlights include: Three days of communal bathrooms, showering in sandals, sleeping in 30-person bunks and making 150 new camp friends. It WAS as much fun as it sounds (theme parties, color wars, slip-n-slide flip cup), but my favorite part of the trip was that I had ZERO cell service. Literally, none.

I switched my phone off when we arrived to the campgrounds on Friday afternoon and didn’t turn it back on until Monday evening, upon our return to the city. Three days of digital detox has me feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and ready to take Fashion Week by storm. WOO! YEAH!

… Sike. Kind of. This post-holiday weekend hangover struggle is SO REAL, you guys. Anyone in the same boat?

At any rate, it’s hard to believe our last unofficial weekend of summer has came and went, hasn’t it?

Depressing though it may be, there’s something joyfully hopeful about a new calendar month — and season.

September is like a clean slate of sorts. An opportunity to dream up a fresh set of goals and set yourself up for new successes, which is part of what I’ll be doing on the blog (as I go through your survey results). After Fashion Week, though. I always need a day or two to recover from Fashion Week…

And, hey: Since it’s still 85 degrees and humid as hell here in New York, it’s an excuse for me to continue wearing this white maxi dress.

May your new month and the upcoming season be filled to the brim with brilliant mistakes and bursts of success. Keep me posted, all right? (And I hope we can nip those holiday hangovers in the bud soon.)
