Halloween Costume Inspiration: Anna Wintour, Rachel Zoe and Man Repeller

Halloween is nearly two weeks away! Where has October gone? If you don’t have your costume finalized just yet, here’s some more outfit inspiration - this week, from our favorite industry forecasters.

1. Anna Wintour
As if you need a reason to dress as a Devil in (pseudo-) Prada.
Shop Anna Wintour: Tibi Tweed Dress / Faux Fur Coat / Vince Camuto Sunglasses
Suede Pumps (Available in 7 colors, $50/each) / Necklace (similar)
2. Rachel Zoe
The idea isn’t a new one, but it’s my all-time favorite style starlet costume.
AND, it justifies the purchase of that purrrfect leopard-print jacket. Right? Buh-nanas!
Shop Rachel Zoe: Faux fur Jacket / Maxi Skirt / Pussybow Blouse
Platform booties (they’re RZ brand!) / EarringsSunglasses
3. Leandra Medine (you know her as the The Man Repeller)
Suit up to spend your night romping around town as a familiar face from the front row of Fashion Week.

Shop Man Repeller: Jacket (on sale) / Skirt - Leandra loves Cacharel, but here’s a more affordable piece)  Necklace (top) / Necklace (right) / Shoes

Halloween Costume Ideas: Animal Instincts

Halloween is fast approaching, and as a tried-and-true trendsetter, I’m sure you’re planning to be out on your city’s scene soaking up the insanity. So, that begs the question: What the heck are you going to wear?

The best thing about this hallowed holiday is the free wardrobe reign we can adopt rights to for an evening. I mean, when else can you rightfully justify purchasing an oversized leopard-print jacket? Or, as I did last year for the ever-creative costuming of Pocahontas, mid-calf fringe Minnetonka boots.

Consider it an excuse to show some skin or to bundle up in a faux-furry ensemble, but whatever your prerogative, go (ahem) wild.

Halloween Costume Inspiration: Even More Animal Instincts

Simplicity with Dalmatian Print: Knitted Dalmatian Top (left) /  / Moschino Cheap + Chic Blouse (right) / Leggings ($12!) / DD&G Dogtag / Modcloth Accessories / Tassle Bag / Similar Loafers

For a more budget-friendly way to concoct your costume, take the ideas from this post and find pieces in your wardrobe that work, borrow what you’re missing from a friend, and hit the consignment shops. While it can be fun to add themed apparel to your wardrobe, there’s no reason to break the bank for a costume if you’ll only wear it once!

Chicly, Chicago

As a writer, I will occasionally find myself wistfully wandering various neighborhoods in search of a nudge in the right direction for some spectacular form of blog inspiration.

Luckily for me, I live in Chicago. Inspiration is not hard to come by in a city that boasts many of the Midwest’s most awe-inspiring buildings and structures, a curiously provocative array of independent boutiques, and so much more.

Chicago is a city of classic elegance, sky-scraping innovation, and incredible perspectives of  architecture, which are practically offered anywhere you are in the city, like these three spots. My favorite thing about being a Chic-agoan? Living in Chicago enables me to shape and fashion my life and look according to my own metropolitan point-of-view.

Wearing: Dress, Hype (from ideeli) / Bag, BCBG / Espadrilles, Vintage ($9)

The Independent Fashion Blogger forum asked this week, what inspires you about your neighborhood?

Look of the Day: Neons & Neutrals

The Inspiration: The bold color combination of Tory Burch contrast elastic espadrilles (find ’em on ShopStyle).

(Yes, that is a portion of my shoe rack peeking out in back!)

The Foundation: A simply mauve-ulous frock by Ophelia for Francesca’s boutiques.

The Look: ‘Tied’ this dainty duo together with a sash from an Odille blouse.

The weather is warming and my wardrobe is inspired… Andy Warhol: Artist, Pop Art extraordinaire and culture aficionado. In addition to his humor and frank interpretation of everyday living, what I love most about this man is his use of a color that ignites your senses. How can you not be seduced by this color-explosive paint palette?
