Covetable Collaboration Alert: Versace, Giambattista Valli and More

one haute minute is a discussion dedicated to debating of-the-minute style news and trends.

There’s a lot going on in the retail world this week, leaving us with quite a few covetable collections to look forward to!

Banana Republic announced the first-ever limited edition “Mad Men” inspired collection for men and women. Designed by Banana Republic in collaboration with the show’s Emmy Award-winning Costume Designer, Janie Bryant, the line will be available in the store’s North American shops and online on August 11, 2011.

The men’s collection features streamlined knits, tailored suit separates and fitted trousers. I bet we’ll see some Chuck Bass-worthy cotton pocket squares, silk ties, tie bars and fedora hats, too. (ROAR!) Womenswear includes chic, lady-like trench coats, tailored dresses, high-waisted skirts and statement accessories.

There’s also a little rumor going around that Italian designer Giambattista Valli is the next big  name to work on a designer collection for Macy’s Impulse line. Valli’s clothing is beautiful, edgy and forward-thinking, but how will his aesthetic translate? The collection is speculated to hit shelves in November, right on the heels of Lagerfeld’s line for Impulse, in stores this September.

Last but not least, we’ve heard Donatella Versace is designing an “Iconic Collection” for H&M. The word “iconic” was supposedly incorporated to ease any reservations Donatella might still have, since she was quoted in 2008 saying, “I work very hard to put the Versace line in the luxury section …  to put the Versace line in H&M would confuse the brand.” Hmm…

For the first time, the designer collabo will also include homeware, cushions and bedspreads. The collection will be available online and in 300 stores worldwide beginning November 17, 2011. Here’s a peak at Donatella’s message:

By now, you’ve heard that Topshop is coming to Chicago (the brand’s second US location), but equally as exciting is the recent announcement of Madewell bringing it’s boutique fashions to the Gold Coast of Chicago!

The name does, in fact, do the brand justice: With just 17 stores in the US, the sister-brand to J.Crew is known for their on-trend, wearble styles, such as wear-everywhere chambray button-downs, perfect-fitting T-shirts, timelessly cool leather boots and bags, and more.

Madewell will be located at 932 Rush Street, just a hop-and-stiletto-skip from Topshop, which is slated to open on Michigan Avenue this fall.

Here’s a few of the the Madewell looks I’m lusting over this summer:
