Simplifying Your Accessories

Today’s accessories are all about rising to the occasion…

Well, accessory… Singular.

You probably know by know, but I’m all about building a wardrobe that’s chic and functional.

I wear a very limited amount of jewelry (although the right pair of statement earrings are always a good go-to), so a watch has almost become like an extended expression of my personality — and seemingly never-ending agenda/to-do list.

Earlier this month, G-Shock S Series (a line of watches for women and men with sportswear-inspired fetures) asked me to style a few of their new all-white watches by sharing a typical day in my life.

I won’t go into that in detail here as the feature is live on Self Magazine’s website, which you can read here.

In sum, though, I’m often out from sunrise to (well) beyond sunset on a daily basis, so having a wardrobe of clothing and accessories that can accommodate my schedule is essential.

The key, of course, is simplifying.

For an early morning meeting followed by an afternoon of errands, I opt for a look that’s no-fuss, comfortable and balanced — with a pop of prep.

I’m often grabbing my meals on-the-go (straight from the SoulCycle studio), and I’ve been on a juice kick since warmer weather has hit.

The all-white monotone and matte-like finish on the G-Shock watch that I’m wearing here lends a certain charm and intrigue to my look — and the fact that the watch’s technology can also help me stay on schedule is just an added bonus. (My nap game is real strong, and this particular style comes with four daily alarm features… Necessary!)

In the meantime, I’m off for the day — after teaching (bright and early at 6 a.m.), I’m heading to a photoshoot with a Chicago-based newspaper/magazine. This is unlike any shoot I’ve ever done, so make sure you follow along on Snapchat (‘coralsncognacs’). Should be interesting!

  1. My friends like to make fun of me, but I’ve been rocking a Baby G watch single middle school. I’ve definitely had a few upgrades over the years, and my current one is a nice silver with a sparkly face. It’s super functional, and it’s great for the weekends, vacations and trips to the beach 🙂

  2. I had a pink Baby G watch back in the early 2000s that I got when my family lived in England (they were super popular). I was devastated when I left it in a locker at the Y after swim practice! So sad! Love their new upgrades!

  3. Hi! I just love your blog! I’m assuming you linked a similar style because it’s sold out, but what is the brand of the white sweater you’re wearing? It’s so cute.
