Fashion Mixology: Prints on Prints

One of my favorite things about spring fashion is mixing winter and spring separates to make for an easy transition between seasons.

It can be a tough trend to pull off, but I’m exceptionally practiced at wearing off a number of fashion don’ts in my day, so I’m here to help. Ladies, let’s step out of our wardrobe ruts and into our roles as Mixologists!

  • Start with a neutral palette… unless you’re a veteran. Or just feeling bold. A foolproof way to rock this trend is to stick to a limited color variety. Which brings me to my next point:
  • Don’t overdo it. Three patterns, max. If you mix prints in varying colors, aim to ensure that they all have at least one color in common. This creates a bit of visual harmony through the print mixing madness.

  • Go graphic. Make sure both patterns are unique enough to offset the look and appear deliberately clashy. Wear too many busy patterns and you’ll risk looking just plain messy.
  • Lastly, of course, I’d suggest adding a pop of non-matching color to the mix. Often, if not always, I’d suggest a touch of neon, but I’ve been wearing the heck out of this chambray shirt since I snagged it.

  2. Oh my gosh, these pictures make me so nervous, haha (you being in the middle of the street when there is a green light).

I’m way too self conscious to take photos in front of that many people, so, I admire you for being able to do that.
