Favorite Finds at Madewell (and One Huge Sale)

in shopping

There’s a nasty little flu bug going around in Chicago, and I’ve got it. Being sick actually does more harm to my bank account than it does my body, but what’s a girl to do besides sip hot tea and shop online when she’s quarantined to her couch?

One of my style resolutions for the New Year is to invest in key pieces, rather than (as many) trends. So it’s a good thing, then, that Madewell has so many cute shoes, printed pants and beautiful Italian-leather boots on sale right now — and marked down an additional 30% off with code LOVEIT.

Here’s what’s currently in my shopping cart (most of which fall in the sale category).

*Top left, clockwise: leather gloves | washi tape | army parka | bike tee | sweater | printed pants |
leather boots | hat | camo pants | leopard bag | sparkle heels | oxblood booties

I’ve always known the name (thanks to a friend and former J. Crew personal shopper, Kelly), but my love affair with Madewell was truly born a few months ago, when I was wandering The Grove with Ashley during a recent trip to LA.

Initially, I was drawn to the store’s window display of cotton scarves layered atop sweater-clad mannequins, but what really did me in was the discovery of Washi tape. I mean, neon masking tape? Why wouldn’t I need to buy that? I use mine in notebooks, on calendars and to wrap gifts, but otherwise, they just take up a pretty little piece of real estate lookin’ all Pinterest-worthy on my desk.

I’m happy it’s almost Friday. Here’s hoping neither of us will be spending the weekend on the couch in the company of a flu bug… But just in case, you know where to find me.
