A Pleated Maxi in the Marais

On the hours-long flight to-and-from Vegas this weekend, I had a chance to spend a few blissfully uninterrupted hours editing the last batch of my photos from Paris.

(…Literally, what day is it? Where am I?)

There’s about a hundred or so — and I’m still working on “storifying” them, so for today I’ll share another one of my of my favorite (favourite) outfits from our trip across the Atlantic.

Remember when I told you that I embarked on this trip with a palette of primarily black and white? Yeah, well, that went to shit, as I ended it with just about every hue under the color spectrum.

It happened when we found COS.

COS — which stands for Collection of Style — is H&M’s slightly higher-end sister brand. They’ve been primarily European-based up until recently, when the brand launched an US e-commerce site this past spring. (It also to be where that pretty powder blue sweater I’ve been wearing is from!)

With an urge to shop, we stumbled into COS’s brick-and-mortar after a day of wandering Le Marais, a trendy area with some of the city’s best boutiques, vintage gems, department stores and wine shops in Paris.

Though it’s a bold statement to make, the Marais is my favorite district in Paris.

It’s one that leads many lives, so-to-speak — it’s a Jewish neighborhood, Chinese community and super-trendy gayborhood, among many other things. These days, it’s known by many as a famous shopping precinct.

The store is rumored to be making it’s way to New York this fall, and that’s a — ahem — COS for celebration if I’ve ever heard one… (Couldn’t not.)

After a jam-packed day of (successful) retail therapy, we wandered down the cobbled Rue de Rosiers for dinner at L’As Du Falafel at Victoria’s recommendation. The platter did not disappoint — though can you believe I’ve never had falafel in New York? Adding it to my page-long winter to-do list.

More Postcards from Paris will be up tomorrow!

  1. Le Marais is where I stayed when I went to Paris last New Year’s with my mom. I absolutely love the area too. I’ve been feeling super Paris nostalgic lately, so thank heaven for your Paris posts!

What do you think?
