Link Love, Vol. 96

Happy Friday, you guys!

This week’s Link Love format is a bit different from what we’ve gotten used to, but I wanted to try something a bit different for a few reasons…

To be honest, I just kinda felt like the older version had become a bit overwhelming with too much information. These weekly round-ups are an opportunity for me to share things around the web that I feel are worth sharing, and I never want them to come off as a filler post or as content that’s too sales-y, if that makes sense.

To me, the new format feels more digestible, easy to read and just all-around genuine — and I hope you agree.

Either way, you are welcome to send me your feedback (comment below, e-mail or send me a tweet) and suggestions as I’m always open to hearing and incorporating them.

TGIF. Let’s get to it:

Ten Things

  • I realize I’m 30-years-young, but I totally bought this pineapple pouch for all the music festivals I’m going to this summer. Hands-free is the only way to go!
  • As a product of my working in fitness (i.e. changing my entire lifestyle in order to work in fitness), I’m asked a lot of questions about weight loss, metabolism and the like. DailyBurn published a great read on how your metabolism changes in your 20’s, 30’s and 40’s — and what you can do to preserve it.
  • My friend Kristine wrote a great piece on what to expect if you’ve never been to SoulCycle and you want to check it out.
  • By now, you’ve probably seen or heard about Sheryl Sandberg’s commencement speech at the University of California Berkley, where she talks about how the recent death of her husband changed her (for the better). The Boston Globe published an edited version of it here, and it’s really, really inspiring to read. “It’s the hard days that determine who you are.”
  • I’ll sing the praises of NARS lip products all damn day. Typically, I love their matte pencils, but as the weather gets warmer I find myself reaching for the Satin Lip Pencils more frequently. They’re a bit creamier (ew), but still have that lasting effect on the lips so you don’t need to apply them every ten minutes. (My go-to in the spring/summer is ‘Rikugien,’ it’s a really gorgeous neutral shade — you can see it on me in this post.)

  1. Hi! Can you repost the link for the chicago rose spots? (local girl here so I NEED THAT!) Thanks! Also, i bought myself some stan smiths (the exact same green ones you have and have been needing to find new socks to wear with them so they dont show. Any suggestions since i cant see yours lol) and I need em quick since i’m heading to Spain on tuesday 🙂

  2. I like this format for links better than the previous one. I agree with the commenters above regarding pits & peaks & the q& a. Great links this week! I especially liked the Sheryl Sandberg speech.

  3. I loved peak and pits & the reader questions from the old format! But this weeks links were pretty fab 👌 Happy weekend to you, Hallie!
