Bow-Tie Bling

Boyfriend jeans and bow-tie bling may sound like an oxymoron, but with the right styling and a bold red lip, they make perfect sense…

I told you yesterday how my outfits are working overtime (day-to-night) this week, and I’ve been surprised to find that ripped jeans fit the bill.

… But we’ll get to that.

First, let’s talk about this Loren Hope necklace. I really love it. It’s feminine, flattering and super versatile — a chic piece for your holiday ensembles that’ll work for everyday wear, too. (And it’s 15% off with code CORALS15 — the whole site is!)

I’m not going to lie, though. I had a hard time styling it at first. Kinda like writer’s block, but the fashion edition. You know?

I tried it with a series of chunky sweaters, but the beautiful bow shape kept getting lost in the oversized nature of my knits. I paired it with striped tops and the like, but still — no dice.

After a good amount of wardrobe experimenting (which resulted in the entire contents of my closet strewn across the apartment), I’ve found that the bow-tie bling pairs the best with collared shirts or crew-neck tees.

Or, hey — both!

As for the rest of today’s look: I love the combination of the loose-fitting ripped jeans with super-simple, strappy heels. Remember this look?

I could’ve stopped at the blazer and blouse combo (isn’t the piping on this shirt awesome?), but I added a graphic t-shirt to give the outfit’s palette more contrast and vibrancy. And because, well, ’tis the season to layer on up.

I’ve worn a few iterations of this outfit to work meetings, out for dinner, drinks, and the like — and let me tell you: The best part is that you can eat as much as you want without worrying about that need to unbutton.

Oh yes, you know what I’m talking about.

  1. You are always on your A game with layering. I need lessons! I always end up looking like one sad marshmallow shape. No boobs, no curves! Depressing! lol
