Summer Separates

At this very moment, it’s likely that I’m daydreaming, envisioning a carefree version of myself wandering aimlessly around the Hamptons wearing a colorfully designed maxi dress or skirt.

Unfortunately, my job (and, well, life in general) prevents this from becoming a consistent reality, but at least the second half of that fashionable fantasy is ownable.

Enter: Persifor.

I was recently introduced to the brand (of the skirt I’m wearing) at a blogger brunch in the West Village. Alex, the designer, is a sweetheart, and I remember instantly feeling drawn to her modern style, signature prints and patterns.

Most notably, this tropical leaf skirt encompasses much of everything that I appreciate about summer — bold prints, bright colors, shortened hemlines. (I need a tan, okay?)

For now, I’ll snap out of my beach-side reverie and focus on channeling a season’s worth of Hamptons-chic style — breezy separates and easy essentials that capture the essence of summer on the East End.

Until next time, you can find my banana leaf skirt and I weaving through the concrete jungle. (Or, more accurately, at my desk.)

Bloggers (and Brands) who Brunch

Yesterday, I joked about how scattered and event-heavy my schedule has become the past few weeks, but not in a bad way. I like being forced out of my little New York apartment!

Last Saturday, I ventured to the West Village for brunch at Palma over mimosas, complex carbohydrates and the latest collections from Julie Vos and Persifor - two new-to-me designers that you’ll start seeing more of in my outfit rotations. Julie has an eye for beautiful jewelry with semi-precious stones, and Alex (of Persifor) creates casual, designer-looking resort-wear. One of these bags may have just gotten picked up by a huge women’s clothing retailer, too!

In addition to catching up with a few girls I haven’t seen since Fashion Week, I had the chance to (finally) meet Mackenzie, Courtney and Karly for the first time. Here’s a few photos from our brunch:

The morning’s company, of course, was great. I’d elaborate on what I ate, but the honest answer is just “two of everything.” … And then some: Spinach and egg frittata, fruit-topped french toast, flaky croissants and a delicious caprese salad. YOLO?

Special thanks to Kat, Julie and Alex for hosting. I loved meeting you just as much as I loved leaving 10 pounds happier and heavier!
