Kendall Jenner's Modeling for Marcc

Kardashian half-sister Kendall Jenner is the fresh face of an edgy new ad campaign for designer Marc Clark and his Marcc Haute T-shirt collection.

Accordingly, Clark told E! that Kendall has "that model presence" and was "a blast to work with" on set.  When you see her, he said, "the first image you think of is not even celebrity or a Kardashian or a Jenner, I think model."

Well, what I think is: That's not even remotely close to what I looked like when I was 15!

After seeing these pictures, you may need reminding: Kendall is a 15-year-old student and cheerleader at her California-based high school who began her modeling career with an ad campaign for Forever 21 in 2009.

According to the Hollywood Gossip, she's gone on record saying her dream job is "to model for Chanel." ... That's all very ambitious, but frankly, whose isn't?!

What do you think? Does the born-into-Hollywood starlet have a modeling career ahead of her? Or is she destined to remain in the shadows of her fashion-savvy sibs?

The weather is warming and my wardrobe is inspired... Andy Warhol: Artist, Pop Art extraordinaire and culture aficionado. In addition to his humor and frank interpretation of everyday living, what I love most about this man is his use of a color that ignites your senses. How can you not be seduced by this color-explosive paint palette?

The Versatile Blogger Award

Wow, I'm so thrilled - my first mini Blogger award! Thank you to fellow blogger Theresa from The Stiletto Diaries, who has recently recognized me with The Versatile Blogger Award.

Accordingly, those who receive the Award are to link the person who awarded it to them, write seven facts about themselves, and award it to seven other bloggers.

Here's my seven fast facts:

  1. I have lived in three of the US's greatest cities: LA, NYC and (currently) Chicago.
  2. My weekend drink-of-choice is champagne. Why not?
  3. My favorite make-up products are by Benefit Cosmetics.
  4. I'm planning to run my second half-marathon in August.
  5. I'm 5'4" -- but really, 5'8" + on a good (shoe) day. Platform pumps are a petite gal's best friend.
  6. The last CD that I purchased was Kanye West's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
  7. My daily summer style consists of cotton dresses, Michael Kors wedges and a cognac (duh) fedora.

... And here's seven savvy Bloggers whom I think are deserving of this award. I love the personality-ridden posts of these blogs!

  1. Alyson, The Average Girl’s Guide
  2. Hannah, Endlessly Chic
  3. Anna, Fash Boulevard
  4. Emily, Emilina Sassperina
  5. Kate, The Permanent Tourist
  6. Sharon, Fashion-isha
  7. Jess, GorJess Fashion for Less
Congrats, ladies! Can't wait to read your fast facts - and thanks again, Theresa! xx

Trend Report: Bare Midriffs (via WWW)

Fashion Salad is a discussion dedicated to tossing ideas about a mix of life and style musings.

Yes, the thought of bare bellies can be frightening, but a midriff-revealing ensemble can transform itself into a sophisticated and chic evening look, according to the WhoWhatWear Trend Report. Today's daring outfit idea is all about showing just a hint of skin - it's enough to turn heads and make a statement, without being overly revealing.

Would you wear this trend?

Thinspiring Transformation: Jennifer Hudson

Since I received so many thought-provoking opinions and points-of-view, I wanted to re-visit on my post from earlier this week about Thinspiration from Karl Lagerfeld.  (Have you "weighed in" yet? Food for Thought or Foolish?)

While it's debatable that fashion is the absolute healthiest motivation for losing weight, it's certainly a big factor for many of us, right ladies? Take Jennifer Hudson, for example -- she's now as famous for her weight-loss as she is for her award-winning vocals!

In addition to her roles as a singer, actress, wife and mother (she had her son, David, in 2009), she's now a role model for women everywhere trying to lose weight (emphasis on the word model, here)! JHud admits she didn't have a clue how to eat properly and credits the well-known WeightWatchers program for putting her on the fast-track to shedding L-B's. To date, Jennifer's reportedly dropped 10 dress sizes, from a size 16 to a size 6!

Look how uh-mazing she looks in these Michael Kors gowns:

Undeniable, right? In all honesty, I didn't recognizer her at first. On the other hand, I don't think she's ever looked fugly. Always confident and comfortable in what she's wearing, like in these Tadishi (on the left) and Lanvin gowns:

This Chicago-born star is so much more than just an American Idol (ha, remember those days back in '04?). Do you have a success story? Who -- or what -- are your Thinspirations?

On-trend: Sustainable Style at H&M;

Hennes & Mauritz (H&M) once said it would switch to sustainable cotton by 2020, and the brand is making good on its goals of making their first big line of eco-fashion a long-term trend.

Last season, the Garden Collection held true to the promises of rejuvenating our wardrobes with modern, sustainable pieces in floral patterns and playful prints. Need reminding? Check out a lookbook on NitroliciousDo you have any pieces from H&M's Garden Collection? I was lucky enough to snag these two flirty frocks:

... And now I'm yearning for warm-weather months (which we won't be seeing in Chicago, Illinois, for awhile!).

Okay, flash forward: The brand's 2011 spring line, dubbed "Conscious Collection," will feature minimalist, tailored looks combined with lace, frills and draping. According to a statement released on the company's website in February, we can look forward to romantically-inspired blouses, tunics and T-shirts; dramatic Grecian gowns, long floaty skirts and tiered dresses in neutral hues.

While the eco-chic line-up is slated to launch nationwide in H&M stores on April 14, 2024 - just in time for Earth Day - it  will be a permanent fixture at H&M, recurring at various times throughout the year in different guises.

The Conscious Collection includes pieces made from Organic cotton and linen (grown without the use of hazardous chemicals), recycled polyester (made from PET-bottles or textile waste) and Tencel (silky, renewable material produced with minimal environmental impact). Here's a sneak peak - and some of my favorite fashions of the collection to come!

Thinspiration from Karl Lagerfeld

In 2001, Karl Lagerfeld dropped 92 pounds in 13 months. In his book, The Karl Lagerfeld Diet, he explains that losing weight for sartorial reasons is simply a clever form of reverse psychology.

Hmm... What do you think?  Are Lagerfeld's insights foolish or food for thought?

... Speaking of Shoes

If you follow me on Twitter, you saw that I have decided to celebrate the first Friday of March the best way I know how...

SHOES. Hello, yellow! These were on sale for $14.95 from Nine West this week (they have them in pink and white, too). Time to get excited for springtime. :)

The Heeling Process

"The fact is, sometimes it’s hard to walk in a single woman’s shoes. That’s why we need really special ones now and then to make the walk a little more fun." - Carrie, Sex & the City

... Carrie knows best! When going through a healing period, every girl could use a pair of new heels. Last year, I was craving color-explosive pumps with hint of femininity, and I remedied with these Anne Klein slingbacks:

This season, though, I am needing neutral wedges. Which of these takes your vote?

 A. "Theia," by Diane Von Furstenberg

 B. "Illy," by Boutique 9

 C. "Jade," by Dolce Vita

 (The backs!)

D. "Carisma," by Andre Assous

Decisions, decisions... Just one thing to note: E. All of the Above is not an option... Unless, of course they go on sale! ;)

Jessica Simpson Knows Fashion, Not Fish.

Slingback pumps and fedora-style hats. Yes, you own (many pairs of) them, but are they Jessica Simpson brand?

Perhaps, since these are just two of the staples in 30-year-old Jessica Simpson's fashion empire, which clocked in approximately $750 million in 2010, and is estimated to push $1 Billion in sales this year with the addition of a full ready-to-wear collection and a line of career separates.

To put that in perspective, Jessica Simpson is doing roughly the same volume in sales as Michael Kors! (via The Cut)

[Pause for reaction.]

J.Simp may not know the difference between tuna and chicken, but she clearly knows a thing or two about womenswear.

PS: Has she signed that prenup yet?
