I couldn’t have left the house one-bedroom apartment happier when stepping out in my first leg-baring outfit for spring last week. And though it may be a fresh start to a new season, that doesn’t mean I’m keen to leave any of my old favorites behind.

I bought this Ali Ro dress on a whim at a sample sale in 2010, not being able to take my eyes off of it’s citrusy color. Turns out, she’s been quite the go-to over the past few seasons, for happy hours to wedding showers and casual Fridays.

Some variation of this ensemble is rapidly becoming my go-to weekday uniform, because it’s just so easy. I’m petite, so I can always afford to exaggerate my silhouette with a fitted waist and full skirt.

I love these three pieces equally (we don’t play favorites in this closet), so I decided to skip the accessories and let each of them each stand out. I think it helps each piece enhance the look, rather than compete with one other.

And, of course, I can’t forget to tell you about my Katy Perry Shoes: I was shopping in Akira Chicago awhile back when Katy came in and tried these on. She must not have liked them as much as I did, because I scooped ‘em up right when she put ‘em back. I know what you’re thinking: Did I talk to her? No, I was a girl on a mission and Akira was having a sale.

Truth is, I’m shoe-crazy before I am star-struck. Is that odd?

  2. Great look! I love the mix of bright color and the leopard print is just so chic and pulls the whole look together! So, the weather is getting warmer in Chicago? Isn’t it exciting when you truly get to wear your first real spring outfit after winter? So fun! :)
