Blushing Separates

I’m not sure how it happens, but there are some days when I don’t even look at my phone (or computer) until I get home well after 7 p.m.

Yesterday was one of those days.

On top of Instructor Development training with SoulCycle (this”job” absolutely does not stop at making playlists and teaching classes), my parents have been in town for a few days. Wahoo!

Visitors are always a welcome reprieve from one’s inbox — and an excuse to disregard the digital world, even if only for a few days.

That meant busting out my “real-person clothes,” though — and on weeks in which my calendar seems to be bursting at the seems, I’m eternally grateful for the MVPs (Most Versatile Pieces) in my closet that I can wear time-and-time again.

You know how late last year I was (and still am) obsessed with the reversible tote bag? This season, it seems to be all about the silk $30 camisole (that comes in 10 colors).

I found them on a late-night Nordstrom shopping spree the other day (wine-fueled, no doubt). I was skeptical of the quality given the price, but I liked the plunging v-neck, so I bought the baby blue color (that I’m wearing today). Plus, Nordstrom’s return policy is the shit.

I wore it for the first time to lunch this week, and I bought two more colors immediately following (the black and bright yellow).

It’s surprisingly silky-like, feels high-quality and can be worn with literally anything in your closet — which, for me, isn’t much these days, as I’ve been making more and more trips to the donation center downtown. (Three weeks and counting… Can you believe it?)

You know how camisoles tend to bunch around your boobs in a weird way?

Yeah, this one doesn’t. It seems to be sewn together quite nicely (… and, okay, I’ll just go there: It doesn’t really show pit stains with wear). In case you’re wondering about sizing, I’m wearing a 6, which is my true US size.

And while we’re on the topic of summer staples, you’ll notice I’m wearing these white denim shorts again. Regularly, in fact. I got them from Zappos last year, and they’re still a closet staple.

… And on that note, I’m out the door to meet mom and dad.

  1. You’ve convinced me to give the cami a go…and maybe even the blazer ;) My week in one word: whirlwind. I’ve been unplugged this week more than I have in several years and I feel a mix of FOMO and contentment. Hope you’re enjoying your time with fam!

  2. Silk camisoles are my go-to items. I literally have 40 of them (mostly black….woops!) They go with everything and always add a polished look to any outfit. I personally love when I find something that I can wear to work and on the weekends. Your baby blue one is so pretty! I might have to add that color to my collection haha!
