DIY Halloween Ideas [Video]

Hard to believe that Halloween is this weekend, isn’t it? If you’re like me, you save your Halloween costume deciding (let alone crafting) until the very. last. minute.

So, that begs the question: What the hell are you going to wear?

If you’ve got two minutes, I’ve got five ideas. The best part? These pieces are probably already in your closet… And kitchen.

What I love about October’s hallowed holiday is the free wardrobe reign we can adopt for an evening. When else can you justify purchasing bejeweled antlers? Or, as I’ve done for the ever-creative costuming of Pocahontas, fringe Minnetonka boots. (Everyday, actually; I’m sick in the head an excellent justifier.)

That’s a discussion for another day.

My Glam girls and I got together over Fashion Week to create a video with budget-friendly Halloween ensembles — just for fun. There’s no reason to break the bank on a costume if you’ll only wear it once, right?

I don’t generally go the SeXy KiTteN route and I love an excuse to rock faux fur, so my LBD-inspired costume was a no-brainer. I also had ulterior motives: the Starbucks cup is actually for adult “road pops” during party-hopping.

Whether Halloween is your prerogative is to show some skin or to bundle up in an obnoxiously furry ensemble, consider it an excuse to go (ahem) wild.

Here’s a few behind the scenes snaps from our shoot — be sure to check out the other girls’ blogs, too (linked at the end of this post).

… But seriously. What the hell are you going to wear?

  1. What a fun video! I love these ideas, especially since I have NO IDEA what I’m wearing. And I’m hosting a Halloween party… Oops.

  2. I can’t dress up for Halloween this year because I have a dodgeball game that night. Damn social sports always ruining my plans! The hubs and I live in suburbia so we hand out candy to kids, although this year I think he’s going to limit the amount of pieces per kid I hand out. What can I say, I’m a sucker for the cute little kids that come around first!

  3. nothing- haha. last year was probably my favorite, it was the day of and I was sans costume but with a blonde wig (I had always wanted to wear one and my friends finally allowed me to buy it) so I pulled from my few hipster items and my bff and I went a MK & A- cigarette and starbucks in hand!
