Off-the-shoulder

Maybe it’s because I spend so much of my time in workout clothes, but when I get dressed up to go out, I get dressed up to go out.

Late last week, a new-to-me wine regions in Spain, Ribera y Rueda hosted a few local bloggers for a wine varietal tasting at Atrium in DUMBO, Brooklyn. (I always laugh at the word “tasting” — does anyone actually go and not drink all of the wine?)

Atrium is an industrially designed, super-chic contemporary French restaurant with an impressive wine and cocktail program.

I took it as an opportunity to pair a new pencil skirt with a pair of ankle-strap sandals and my silky off-the-shoulder top, the latter of which is another purchase from that late-night, wine-fueled (appropriately so) Nordstrom spree wherein I discovered the perfect summer tank.

I’m all about shoulder-baring shirts this summer — and not surprisingly, Topshop (for Nordstrom) has some of the most amazingly affordable options that are well under $100. (I linked to my favorites at the end of this post.)

I’m a schvitzer in the summer — like, Pit Stain Nation, you guys — and today’s trend is kinda like having clothing with some built-in ventilation. Brilliant, no? Crisis averted!

  7. Got my black tank earlier this week and wore it yesterday! I give it two thumbs up. And now I’m kicking myself for not getting the other two colors I wanted because they’re currently out of stock (crossing my fingers for the waiting list). I love this top just as much….damn you 😉

  21. My shoulders have always been one of the areas of my body I feel most self conscious about. However, I’ve been working really hard to improve my posture and feel good about myself. Maybe an off the shoulder top is exactly what I need to make myself proud of how far I’ve come. (First world problems, I know).
