Oversized Scarf

Despite a 70-degree start to the new month of November, I’ve stayed wrapped up in an oversized scarf and a lightweight vintage tee for the past few days.

I could say it’s in the name of style — but the truth is, I like to keep my neck wrapped up when I’m outdoors these days…

I’ve still got a lingering head-cold that’s been following me around over the past two weeks. Ugh! Annoying, yes; but I typically only get sick once a season (knock on wood!), so hopefully this is it for me… Is your body the same way?

At any rate, I’ve really given this blanket scarf a run for it’s money in the last few years.

(Mine is an old version from Zara, but the identical ASOS version is finally back in stock this year — for now.)

Fall is like the perfect style palette cleanse.

I’ve mentioned that the turn-of-the-seasons can cause me to steer my style in more of a neutral direction, so it’s no wonder, then, that this piece has been a style staple for the past few seasons — it’s the perfect pop of color against a “blank” fashion backdrop.

Really, though — who doesn’t love an excuse to bundle up in a blanket-looking layer in public?

If you’re in the market… Nordstrom actually has a portion of their site entirely devoted to the “trend.” I have this plaid style, too, and I love to layer it under a cute, colorful winter coat.

Express has a handful of great options (I like this grey stripe style the best). I’ve also linked to a handful of my favorite styles (most under $50) at the end of today’s post.

  1. I just picked up a few new plaid blanket scarves this season after loving all the outfits from last winter. If the ASOS ones sell out again, there are tons of great options at Dillards for $38. Almost any plaid color combination you could dream of is available. (I linked some in my latest Weekend Reading post.) I hope you feel better soon, Hallie!

  2. Lingering colds are the worst. Hope you get better soon. I get muscle spasms in my neck when the temperature changes drastically. Up here in Milwaukee all week has been in the lower 70s so I keep a scarf on as well esp at my desk at work (since they don’t want to turn off the air)
