Lightly Layered

You know how the end of summer tends to be your token wedding season? Well, October is birthday season… Like, seriously.

I am fairly certain that half the friends and family in my life have celebrated birthdays in the last few weeks -and there’s no signs of slowing down. (And for some reason, I don’t remember this being the case last year. What gives?)

Lots of our parents got busy around New Years, it seems… Cuffing season, my friends! Holla.

Just kidding. Be safe.

Ahem.

Not that I don’t love a reason to split a bottle of champagne (or two) on a Tuesday night, but boy has my wardrobe been working overtime as of late. From blog meetings to birthday dinners and SoulCycle classes, I’ve been going from early morning to late night a lot over the last week, which means my outfits have needed to, too.

This style strategy has been easy given it’s the season of lightweight layering, and nothing fits the bill better than a neutral-colored cashmere sweater and a relaxed-fit, long crepe vest.

(You know I love a good vest!)

Real talk, too: A faux-leather skirt does the job in not allowing me to over-eat at all these birthday dinners… And while I love these ankle booties, they keep my Uber game strong. Hashtag cab-to-curb heels.

  1. I love every single piece in this post! The leather skirt is really the perfect transitional piece. And about October birthdays…I feel the same! Seems like half the population was born this month! But everyone loves birthday cake, so I can’t be mad about it 😉

  2. I feel the same way about it being birthday season. Between my boyfriend and a few good friends all celebrating within a few weeks….I’m going to need a serious detox come the end of the month! I’ve been eyeing the cashmere at Vineyard Vines 😉 I love the way you styled it here!

  3. My mom calls these “restaurant heels.” You wear them from the car into the restaurant and out of the restaurant into the car. Ha!

What do you think?
