Over the weekend, I flew to New York (for litch-ru-ly 24 hours) for the annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic. It was a rather last-minute decision, but we go every year and it is always such a blast…

I’ve talked about this before, but I’ve started to shift into my summer mindset… It’s wonderful. This year, it’s all about scheduling your priorities — rather than prioritizing your schedule.

Simple concept — yet hard for us to do, no?

Looking ahead to this week: When the weather is nice in Chicago, you always find a reason to be outside.

A few days back, Jess and I packed our computers, a few food essentials and some Veuve Clicquot (feeling inspired by the weekend that was then ahead of us) in a couple of straw beach bags and settled in for a picnic in the park.

I used this an excuse to break in one of my newer summer dresses — can’t go wrong with stripes and off-the-shoulder this season. (All sizes were just re-stocked here, FYI.)

My mimosa-embroidered smoking slippers felt right for the occasion. Soludos’ shoes are a summer staple in my closet — there’s a ton of cute, similar styles linked here as well as below. Go up one half size!

Chicago has so many spots that are perfect for perching up for an afternoon with a picnic in-tow (and a bottle of bubbly). Ultimately, our afternoon turned into more of an Out of the Office situation rather that of “working remotely,” if you know what I mean… Ha. Good intentions, at least. Right?
