Summer State of Mind

If you’ve ever been to the Windy City, you know — there’s nothing quite like Summertime Chi.

We’ve been talking about this sentiment in my SoulCycle classes a lot lately (and Jess touched on it in her most recent post, too) — but really, summer is a state of mind. In a lot of ways, no?

A rich combination of good friends, late nights, cold beers, ice-cold coffees and — most importantly, less daunting to-do lists and many afternoons spent offline, indulging in doses of Vitamin D…

Perhaps it’s because we only have a few months of summertime Chi (from what I remember), but we relish in that shit.

Whether it’s a patio, beer garden or porch, there isn’t much better than an outdoor drinking oasis. (One of my neighborhood favorites is right behind me in these photos — Parlor Pizza Bar.)

Summer is a state of mind.

… And good thing, too, because it seems our days of warmer weather are limited at best over here in the Midwest.

As a result, I fully intend to wear the heck out of my favorite summer separates — swingy, striped dresses, open-toe, strappy sandals; and raffia-textured clutches (this one also comes in black).
