High-Contrast Hues

After a warm-weather season of vibrant patterns and prints, I think I’ve begun to rebel a bit.

black and white outfit, all white, style, inspiration, monochromatic

Or perhaps it’s that I’ve had a few weeks to process the looks and trends from Fashion Week and I’d prefer to dress with a clean palette. Either way, if you come here often (thanks!), you’re probably not surprised to see me about town in high-contrast hues.

I know that black and white are technically two colors (and that they’re not technically colors, but let’s lock it up for the sake of satire, nerds), but I’ve been pairing them together so frequently that they’ve kind of become their own single color trend.

You can always add a colorful accessory if your look feels too stark, but for me, it’s all about the contrast. There’s something about the stylish ease of simplicity that’s really speaking to me this season.

… That’s deep, huh? Yep, I went to college.

*Wearing: Gap jeans, BCBGMAXAZRIA striped blazer (similar), Halston clutch, ALDO booties c/o Visa (they’re on sale!), Ray-Ban aviators, BaubleBar shark tooth necklace (similar)

PS: I have a real treat in-store for you tomorrow. Come see me in the morning for a good laugh!

  1. That JACKET! I love black and white together, and there’s something about this that is totally catching my eye. What an amazing piece to have in your closet!

  2. Black & White is basically my favorite color combo ever. Actually, now that I think about it, I’ve work b&w outfits every day this week. Oops (?) Maybe I’ll bust out something colorful for Friday. Maybe…

  3. Gorgeous look! There’s absolutely nothing wrong with a classic B&W look in my books! I love the chunkier clutch and the striped blazer (kind of reminds me of a piano??!). And I’m totally in love with that BaubleBar necklace too!

    • Beyond - there’s a hidden platform which makes them very comfortable. I actually wear them on my commute (versus other shoes where I pack flats/change). I’m thinking about getting the white pair but I’m afraid they’ll scuff! Highly recommend these.
