You ever have one of those days where you just. do. not. want. to. do. anything?

Totally, right? That was me last night — despite a slew of after-work events I’d over-ambitiously committed to. Some days (most days), the only thing I want to RSVP to after a long day at work is my ass on the couch with $25 worth of delivery.

But, about last night — obviously, I rallied:

Around dusk, I had the unique opportunity to attend a city harbor cruise with Moroccanoil (not a typo), a brand that has single-handedly carried me through my last — and current — New York City summer. Peach fuzz humidity hair, begone!

I pulled this outfit from the throes of my hamper closet yesterday morning, having remembered my after-work plans and in an effort to stay on-theme. I wasn’t having a great day, admittedly, so I didn’t feel up to shooting outfit photos before getting on the boat.

Jess insisted, but I chalked it up, hopped aboard and began the battle of balancing out my dock-rock with the right combination of bread and white wine. Juuust what the doctor ordered… Though not recommended if you have a light stomach.

(I ended up shooting my look after we docked — Bows, the good friend she is, strong-armed me into it on our walk to dinner, wherein this happened.)

The brand introduced us to the new Moroccanoil smooth collection, which I certainly could have used immediately post-cruise (photo below to illustrate) and pre-photos.

Once on the water, there were a lot of omnipresent-looking clouds in the distance. But after an hour or so of sailing along the Manhattan skyline (and Lady Liberty), the sky cleared and we were left with the most stunning sunset I’ve seen in a very long time.

I hate to get all metaphorical and shit on you, but that’s pretty freakin’ symbolic. Isn’t it?

… As they say, keep your face to the sun and the shadows will fall behind you.
