Gym Gear that Works Overtime

Admittedly, comfort seems to have staged a coup in my closet… Though I must say, I’m not mad about it.

You know, comfort? Function — the lesser-known-on-occasion step-child of fashion?

Call it a footwear revolution, but I’ve been shying away from dramatically high stilettos in favor of my (many pairs of) sneakers — this pair of crush-worthy classics in particular for today.

Nothing brings me joy like finding a pair of brightly-hued, stylishly-acceptable sneaks — and under $100. (It’s the little things, okay?) A pair this bold deserves to show off, so today’s outfit was easy to style: Keep it simple and let the shoes do the talking.

From yoga or SoulCycle classes to coffee and croissants, my weekend was packed with errands, appointments and places to be.

Yesterday, I ditched the wardrobe change and went from (light) sweat sesh to boozy brunch by simply swapping out my top and adding on a blazer. Some days, it’s straight from the studio to the street. A girl’s gotta get shit done! And sometimes she only wants to carry a teeny tiny(ish) handbag.

Easy, right? I love workout gear that can do double-time for this very reason… While a faux leather jacket isn’t ideal for jogging, these New Balance kicks keep the option open — lord knows, I’m always in a rush to get somewhere.

And, okay — I’ll admit, I’ve donned this ensemble sans the workout, too. Shopping is cardio, right?

      • Those look more like the Zara leggings. The Zella leggings are more sporty and spandex material. I think they are the new big thing in blogosphere.

      • Yes, I like them! And the nice thing about Nordstrom is, of course, their flexible return policy.

Though to note, this is a slightly different pair than what I linked to - they’re nearly the same with the exception of the seam that runs up-and-down the front of my legs.

Another *AMAZING* option for leggings is Oiselle - I have a pair of fleece-lined leggings (that double as activewear) that I wear all the time, too. I’ll blog more about this in an upcoming post! x

  1. Kk I just chimed in about your leggings (Zella <3) but what I really came here to say is that you are looking absolutely amazing. So fit. Alsoooo I cannot believe that blazer is Zara, totally thought it was Helmut.

  2. Loved reading all the rave reviews on the leggings. I live in the studio as well (because I work here lol!) and often times am doing the same thing as you, Hallie. Normally I wear VSX leggings but I am definitely due for an upgrade!

  3. Loving those New Balances! I have been wearing the NB 990s for years and years, but I have thought about getting a colorful pair as well. Those are too cute! Love this cute/ laid back look!

  5. Your timing is amazing! I was literally scoping out Nordstrom’s for their New Balance selection for a cute pair of fashionable sneaks. I’m leaning towards their precious metals classics.
