Statement Shoes

Fashion Week in February just might be the bane of my high-heeled existence.

It has also proven to throw my balance, test my patience, kill my wallet and deplete my energy levels. Ironically, it has the opposite effect on my waistline, but that’s a story for a separate blog post…

Day One was crazy, right? What a goddamn wonderful experience… Let’s keep it going!

In the beginning of each season, I offer up a similar version of the following plea to my wardrobe — a space packed with such personality (neoprene sweaters! faux fur vests!) that I half-expect to hear it impatiently speaking back to me:

H: “What the hell am I going to wear for seven straight days of fashion shows!?”

C: “Literally ANYTHING in here — and then some. Asshole.”

…She’s right. This is then generally followed by a whine along the lines of, “And can it be cute and comfortable, please?” Six-inch stilettos can get pret-ty awful near the end of those 16-hour days.

Now, I know you’re here looking for Fashion Week Recap, Day 2 — but this isn’t it. Lolz. (It’s here!)

I haven’t told you ’til just now in the hope that you’ll stick around and read today’s post anyhow — it worked, I see! Just kidding — don’t worry, I’m working on it. My next recap from NYFW will be up before the week’s end, as there are many more shenanigans to share.

For today, it’s about the outfit. Mainly, the shoes.

Because I didn’t have time to wander out and pick a few bills from my money tree (as Jessica and I often joke), I shopped my own closet to assemble my Fashion Week ensembles. Although there may be ONE pair of new shoes in the mix…

As a reflection of the excitement and vibrant energy I always feel during Day One, I broke out of my standard, monochromatic winter uniform and donned a killer pair of red heels with some equally pretty prints — a palette that felt worthy of a fall/winter runway backdrop.

  1. Love those shoes! If only I could don those babies in the court room (I’m an attorney) — I think the judge would think they were too flashy! Can’t wait for your next recap!
