An Eyelet Affair

In spite of my better judgement, I’ve been embracing a palette of bright whites this season.

Don’t get me wrong, I love wearing white — it’s the perfect seasonal palette cleanse — but I’m clumsy. Really clumsy, as dictated by Murphy’s Law.

There are trade-offs to this, of course. On the one hand, wearing white is the perfect wardrobe canvas, which makes getting dressed much easier. On the other, it requires me to severely restrict my diet (to the likes of water, white wine and hummus… Which I’m actually fine with).

Despite the array of accessories you can wear with this fashion foundation (neon! oxblood!), I tend to reach for taupe and tan separates nonetheless.

This fact has evidenced itself in the past through a few of my favorite bright whites — this sweatshirt, a chic vest and everyday skinny jeans — and here it is today, manifesting yet again in the complement of this Dolce Vita dress. (I know, right? Dolce Vita! And before I go on, you should know that it’s 50% off.)

I find that neutral hues give crisp white pieces more of a casual, easy-going appeal. Plus, I’ve been looking for a reason to carry this lustrous, metallic Persifor clutch.

Truthfully, I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect LWD (Little White Dress). I wanted a mix of laid-back meets summer-in-the-Hamptons, which is why I went with an eyelet style in a universally flattering fit-and-flare silhouette. (I’m reeeally easy to shop with – can you tell?)

This one seems pre-tty perfect under all circumstances, and the peek-a-boo detailing is perfect for those of us who aren’t quite in crop-top shape. (*Raises hand.*)

Simply put: you need a white dress (and white jeans, but that’s a post for another day). Mine will transition perfectly into fall with a crisp blazer or rugged leather jacket, which we’ll re-visit later this year.

My favorite places to shop for white dresses are at Modcloth, Anthropologie and, of course, Zappos. Next on my lust list is either this lace shift or this tiered white romper — what do you think?

Now, back to getting my ass in crop top shape — and by that, I mean LOL yes, I will have fries with that.

  1. What a lovely dress! And who would’ve thought of wearing booties versus a pair of stilettos for an outfit like this, very unique! Love everything about it. As always, you look fab and your posts are always delightful!

  2. This is one of my favorite looks on you to date!! You look gorgeous in the white lace (I totally feel you about spilling, though…managed to spill smoothie on today’s tee in less than five minutes!). Also, those boots…major heart-eyed emoji over here!

  3. Although white seems to be risky, I’m becoming a pretty big fan too. Thank goodness for Tide To Go pens! This dress is really pretty on you! xo Nina

  4. You look absolutely darling in this dress. Whenever I wear white I’m a little more tense because the danger of getting dirty is everywhere! I’m pretty convinced that I need a little white dress now.

  5. You may not think you’re in “crop top shape” but you’re much closer than I am. For real, those Soul Cycle classes are paying off b/c your legs look killer, as do those Wang booties.
